Redesigning Eisenhower & Our Journey towards the #WarriorWay
In March of 2018 Eisenhower embarked on our Redesign journey. Stakeholder voice was key, from the very beginning, as we held Redesign forums to gather evidence of our students’ needs. We held forums on different days and at different times so that we could reach as many people as possible. While doing this, we starting compiling our larger Redesign team consisting of staff members across our building.
By engaging our stakeholders our Redesign team was able to develop a holistic vision that allowed us to communicate and live our Warrior Way. After eight weeks of visioning work we were able to develop our vision:
Committed to discovering our learning,
flourishing our relationships,
empowering compassion for others,
and preparing to navigate our world.
From there we dove into our goals and strategy teams, researching and piloting strategies across classrooms and schoolwide to find what best met the needs of our students. Over the course of the year teachers collected data through a variety of means to determine the success of each strategy. After a strategy was piloted, the team put together their proposal to bring the strategy schoolwide in our implementation year (2019-2020). A decision-making process was developed (pictured right) and as a staff we voted on the strategies that we thought would best meet the needs of our kids.
By the end of the 2018-2019 school year we had voted on the following strategies to go forward alongside Power Hour:
